Some of my clients are requesting for in-person /face-to-face sessions. I am not comfortable with this as the pandemic situation is quite bad in our area. How should I explain this to the client so that I can continue to help them without meeting them in person? Or should I refer them to others who are having sessions in person? A young lady is having severe difficulties due to her family environment and restrictions in movements due to spread of cases in her locality. She has strong urges to run away to another city and stay in the city and stay in the company of a close friend. Despite trying I am not able to help her think pros and cons as she gets very overwhelmed and agitated. I think I am not able to help her and have suggested other sources of help/referral. I received a call from a friend regarding breaking the news about demise of the spouse to an elderly lady who got recently discharged after recovery from COVID. The spouse passed away due to COVID complications one week ago but she was herself in hospital and isolated and hence the family only kept mentioning that the spouse was in ICU but managing. My client’s father has multiple medical problems (unrelated to COVID). The father is admitted to hospital for management of some acute issues. My client is all the time feeling extreme tension, frustration and even anger at the father for not taking care of his health and escalating his health issue. The client feels angry and frustrated as the admission has resulted in need to be in the hospital and running around between home, pharmacy, billing and the ward. This has increased the risk of exposure to COVID. He is very irritable and snapping at everyone and his own blood pressure is also going high.
