How can I help a client who has been struggling with Schizophrenia and is now trying to support his family – spouse, daughter (5 yrs) and mother (67 yrs) – amid this corona pandemic. He has been searching for work within his reach but is having great difficulty given the current circumstances.

You can gently explore the situation in an objective manner which includes learning about his symptoms and the job-related difficulties. Kindly explore, acknowledge and validate his concerns. The client can be advised to consult a psychiatrist with whom he has been taking consultation previously or consult another psychiatrist who is offering online consultation. In the current times of COVID-19, preoccupation with the prevailing situation and anxieties about own health can decrease awareness of solutions. As per the existing situations, facilitate the client to engage in problem-solving strategies to generate alternatives about other sources of generating income. As per the education and skills, help him to explore for online jobs. Explore whether other family members can also take up online jobs to generate income and support the family. In addition, offer him verified information about governmental and non-governmental organizations that are offering support in the current challenging times.
