How can I provide psychological support to someone who is having financial difficulties during these times?

Acknowledge and validate their feelings. Gently explore the objective situation, as well as their specific concerns. Also, explore strengths and resources they may not have used/thought about. Remind them that while the current situation is extremely challenging and difficult, it could be managed with support. Help them to overcome mental barriers to mobilizing support, if needed and as may be appropriate in a given case. Depending on their situation and background, brainstorm alternative means of generating income and help them in the process of problem solving. Are there other family members whose qualification/skills can be used to add to the family’s income? There are online part-time/freelance jobs that are becoming available. The help- provider may also pro-actively provide accurate information about local resources, government- schemes that are already available or being rolled out to help people.
