The student would have put a lot of effort to get into a reputed institute. The prevailing uncertain situations naturally create anxiety.  However, some of the things that the student should consider are still in his/her favour are:  1) Most countries are affected by COVID-19 and at most places, the educational institutions are closed and the courses may start at a later date. It is useful to keep in touch with the university for updates and explore the provisions that they have (joining slightly later, attending classes online etc). 2) It is better to keep the preparations going for the pending tests/procedures (one may consider taking online courses for preparation). 3) As an alternate plan one can look at other universities that are equally good as the next option.  If the student is very much worried, help him/her to distract, engage in hobbies, have a regular routine and in case of excessive anxiety one may suggest a consultation with a mental health professional.
